I just had to share how much I loved the recent Frontline documentary, Country Boys, by director David Sutherland. It’s a powerful story about two young men in Kentucky trying to improve their lives in extremely challenging environments. The movie’s three 2-hour segments topics cover family dysfunction, poverty, drugs, alcoholism, violence, and how hope and hard work occasionally prevail.
This documentary is excellent; a really interesting story tracking two boys through their last few troubled years of high school. I was particularly moved by Chris Johnson’s story. He’s such a likeable kid; you can’t help but root for him through the entire movie. I was emotionally invested in his efforts to get his high school diploma and go on to college.

I don’t watch Saturday Night Live very often, but caught the first 30 minutes or so of it last Saturday. I’m glad I did because I saw a clever digital short entry came on the screen.
Two guys (Chris Parnell and someone I didn’t recognize) made a rap video about going to see The Chronicles of Narnia movie on a lazy Sunday. Their rhymes about buying cupcakes and other snacks to sneak into the theater, the best route to take to get there, and even about answering the ridiculous trivia questions we all watch while waiting for movies to begin were hysterical!

Arnold Schwarzenegger and his pals may look warm and fuzzy, but their politics are monstrous. If Ahhh-nold and his gang of furry thugs moved into my neighborhood, I’d shuffle my snuffleufagus-like self outta town immediately.

What is up with Chris Matthews? I’m tired of him serving as a messenger for the right. Check out Media Matters' List of Matthews' Mistakes, Misquotes and Misrepresentations to read more about Matthews’ erroneous statements.
“Hardball” is supposed to be “a nightly hour of in-depth political analysis and fiery debate”. In addition to presenting erroneous information, Matthews can’t seem to shut up about his personal beliefs. It’s influencing how he frames every political discussion that touches upon social issues.

Wow! Brian Wilson is a little old to be having a temper tantrum at work. Apparently, he proves that Fox reporters enjoy attacking Democrats off-camera as much as they do on. The only difference is that off camera, their reporters hurl obscenities with abandon.
Wilson was apparently frustrated by his unsuccessful attempt to get Dean’s response to a ridiculously partisan question:
He asked Dean "if people are focused on the other things that you've said about hating Republicans, about Republicans being dishonest and then this latest comment about the Republican Party is full of white Christians. You say you hate Republicans -- does that mean you also'' hate white Christians? [WP]
